Introduction
Gym Bros ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Gym Bros mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly and information generated through your use of the App.
- Account information: name, email address (when provided by Apple or Google sign-in), and a unique account identifier.
- Profile and fitness information: age, sex, weight, weight goals, activity level, fitness goals, training experience, workout preferences, schedule, equipment access, injuries, and motivation preferences you provide during onboarding or in your profile.
- Workout data: workout plans, logged sessions, sets, reps, weights, personal records, notes, and custom exercises.
- Gamification data: experience points, levels, muscle ranks, quests, streaks, and achievements.
- Notification preferences: whether you want workout reminders, streak warnings, and weekly summaries.
- App settings: preferred weight unit, default rest timer, and similar preferences.
- Subscription status: whether you have an active Gym Bros Pro subscription and its expiration date. We do not collect or store payment card numbers.
- Device data stored locally: onboarding progress, cached workout plans, in-progress workouts, and authentication tokens stored securely on your device.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and personalize your workout plans and training experience.
- Track workouts, progress, personal records, ranks, quests, and streaks.
- Provide subscription access to Gym Bros Pro features.
- Save your preferences and sync your data across sessions.
- Send local notifications according to your notification preferences.
- Maintain, secure, and improve the App.
- Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms of Service.
Health and Fitness Data
The App collects self-reported fitness and body-related information to personalize your training experience. This information is not medical data and is not integrated with Apple Health, HealthKit, or similar health platforms unless we explicitly add that feature in the future.
The App does not provide medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before starting or changing an exercise program.
Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services to operate the App. These providers process data on our behalf according to their own privacy policies:
- Clerk — authentication through Apple Sign In and Google Sign In.
- Convex — cloud database and backend infrastructure for storing your profile, workout, and progress data.
- RevenueCat — subscription management and entitlement verification.
- Apple — sign-in and in-app purchase billing on iOS.
- Google — sign-in on supported platforms and billing on Android when available.
- Expo — secure local token storage, notifications, sharing, and app infrastructure.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use third-party advertising networks or analytics trackers in the App.
We share information only with the service providers listed above as needed to operate the App, when required by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
If you use the share feature, you choose when to export and share your progress card through your device's native share sheet.
Data Storage and Security
Your account and workout data are stored on Convex servers. Authentication tokens are stored locally using Expo SecureStore. Some data, such as in-progress workouts and cached plans, may be stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
We retain your information while your account is active and as needed to provide the App. You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Account → Delete account, which permanently deletes your profile, workout history, progress, and related data from our systems.
Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active Apple or Google subscription. Subscription billing records are retained by Apple or Google according to their policies.
Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information.
- Update profile information from the Profile screen or by re-editing onboarding preferences.
- Change notification preferences in Profile → Notifications.
- Delete your account from Profile → Account → Delete account.
- Cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings.
- Contact us at the email below to request help with privacy-related questions.
Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
International Users
If you use the App from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document when changes are made. Continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
